Nomad: On the desolate steppes of’th-century Kazakhstan, when opponent tribes battle for freedom, mystic combatant Oraz saves a baby descended from Genghis Khan who is destined to join the country as “Mansur”. Historical fable has nasty sabers-on-horseback fights and excellent production layout (genuine human being add-ons) however trudging storytelling. Cast includes Kuno Becker, Jay Hernandez, Jason Scott Lee, and Mark Dacascos. (110 minutes, 2005)

Sugar Town : Entertaining mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives dovetail: a musician wannabe who’ll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the incorrect men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up ’80s stone megastars, to name a few. Tiny, made on a shoestring, although acute and well recognized; excellent cast contains a number of genuine-life musicians. Cast includes Supporter Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes,’99)

Coming To America: Prince Akeem has come to Queens N.Y. from Africa. Back in Africa, a wife has been selected for him to marry. Instead the Prince comes to America to find the love of his life, and marry her instead.

The Priests Wife: Hardly amusing blend of drama and humor with Loren as a disenchanted singer who imagines she could persuade pastor Mastroianni to acquire discharge from his promise of celibacy and wed her. Weightier addressing of this topic might be heard on talk shows. Cast includes Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Venantino Venantini, Jacques Stany, Pippo Starnazza, and Augusto Mastrantoni. Buffalo Soldiers: In’89, the peacetime U.S. Army stationed in Germany is largely manned by men who had an option of penitentiary or time in the service. One of them (Phoenix) is a salesperson who wheels and deals, Bilko-like, under the nose of his naive commander (Harris) till a new top sergeant shows up (Glenn) who’s decided to clean things up. Scandalous John: A Disney comedy Western chronicling what occurs when older, lovably ornery rancher Keith refuses to sell his land to a developer. Keith’s wonderful performance as a contemporary Don Quixote gives this one a lift. Cast includes Brian Keith, Michele Carey, Rick Lenz, Harry Morgan, and Simon Oakland. (113 minutes,’70)

Cry of The Penguins: Will a womanizing youthful biologist find real cheerfulness and redemption amid an Antarctic colony of penguins? Do you care?
