Curtains For Privacy
Although curtains are used for design purposes all over the world, its basic function is to provide privacy. This multi-purpose item is used to enhance the interior of a room, and also to divide one room in to two parts. The main feature of curtains is creating a secluded area for people where no one else can be a part of. It is especially used for windows, to create privacy from other people. As a privacy maker, curtains are used for several things which follow.
Window Privacy
Windows can be a source of embarrassment if they are not covered properly. This is true for both internal and external windows. External windows, in particular, should be covered with a curtain to avoid the outsiders from taking a peek inside the house. Homes are the personal spaces of people, where they can live in any state they want; if the windows are not covered properly, people can watch the private acts of people, or may see them in different states of nudity. It is, therefore, recommended to keep the external windows covered with curtains. You can remove the curtains only during special occasions or if you want to enjoy a view of the outside.
In the guest room, you can use curtains made of lighter fabric. They will not block the view but will give a blurred vision to the onlookers outside. A combination of lighter curtains along with darker ones can be used in guest rooms. You can remove the darker ones during the day while keeping the lighter ones still draped over the windows.
Shower Privacy
Another mode of curtains used for privacy is the shower curtains, which tend to create a private moment for people taking a shower. Most of the times, bathrooms have a shower as well as a toilet for urine purposes. Shower curtains tend to be quite useful where people can pull over the curtain and take a bath while the other person could just use it for defecation.
Privacy For bedroom
Curtains should also be used on the windows of a bedroom, even if it is located in the interior side of the house. Bedroom curtains can also be placed over the bed if it is the old style four-post bed. That will give an even greater privacy to the couples. Bedroom curtains should ideally be of darker colours and denser materials. A thick curtain will cut out the voices, and will act as a sound barrier. Similarly, darker colours will block the sunlight, and will add to the ambience of the bedroom.
Backyard Privacy
Many people have extensions in their homes, which results in two families living in one. This really disrupts the privacy of people who want to enjoy a nice moment in their backyard. Hence, people are applying curtain stands in the backyard, and are blocking away the view for their nosy neighbours. These curtains are usually large in size, and are set up in special locations which are mostly used by families. It helps the family enjoy their private moments without being disturbed or watched by others.
