Desktop Computers – Don’t Waste Money On A New One

Posted by Matthew Kerridge 22 November, 2009

Used desktop computers doesn’t necessarily mean computers that are old, out dated and ready to be thrown out. Refurbished and recertified computers also fall under the used category simply because they are not brand new from the factor. They, however, have had components replaced with new parts and are usually just as good as a brand new one.

When a desktop computer has been refurbished and recertified this means it has had a full check up and any and all problems that were found have been completely remedied. After they are repaired and are now back in operational order they are then sold back to the public with a new warranty that guarantees that they are in perfect working order. Refurbished models are the safest way to go when you are planning to buy a used desktop system.

A large selection of online websites that sell refurbished models can be found online with a quick search on Google. All of these sites sell systems that have been checked and repaired and are now in like new working condition. They can be found in prices going as cheap as $200 to $400 even.

Some of the recertified and refurbished systems you will probably find come from top manufacturers like Sony, Dell and Compaq. All you need to do is go out and look for them.

Another thing you will usually find on these websites is OEM versions of various Windows Operating Systems. These versions are generally cheap to get your hands on and work just the same as long as you know how to install them yourself, which isn’t hard.

At times you just might not be able to find exactly what you were looking for and you will instead want to look in to purchasing an additional CD drive instead. If you are unsure how to install this yourself, don’t worry, online tutorials are easy to find and usually a friend will know how that can do it for you.

If your purpose for getting a new computer is just simply for things like sending emails, listening to music or watching movies you are probably not going to have to spend a fortune for a system that will allow you to do that. It is always a lot cheaper to get a used computer in instances such as this. You will be able to do these things just as well on a used system as you would on a new, more expensive one. Plus, you can take the money you saved and invest in cool additions later on if you choose to do so.
