Do You Make A Good Match?
Some of us prefer the company of people who closely resemble us and some prefer the joy of introducing someone with a totally new set of skills, talents and personality to their lives. But is there a place where those differences might become a problem? These questions might help you find the answer.
1. Are you attracted to your partner? Sometimes it’s just not enough to think highly of a person. To maintain a long term relationship, the part of physical attraction is key and you should be able to determine if it exists or not in a pretty early stage.
2: Do You Communicate Well? Is it easy to keep a conversation going? While you may have a great connection in the sack, after a couple of years, most couples report a cooling off in their sex life. It’s then that you’ll really appreciate good conversation. What about when it comes to discussing problems? Some couples yell and scream about the smallest things – yet forgive and forget minutes later. Other people would be deeply hurt. Very different communication styles can spell problems.
3. How do function together in public settings? Some people have very different needs when it comes to their social life and activities. Make sure to check that you are on the same page. Otherwise, you might find yourself in a situation where one of you is just not fulfilled socially and will look to make strides on their own. This can lead in some cases to growing apart and separation.
4. Do you believe in very different things? In some cases it won’t be a problem but in others it can be very frustrating. You love your partner but are then introduced to a set of beliefs that is 180 degrees from yours. It could still work out for you, but it’s always a good idea to check on religious and political principles to make sure you can stick around together for years to come.
5. Has your partner cheated on you? It is usually a good idea to open this up early. In some cases, you can forgive and move forward. In other cases it will just not be possible. Make sure to ask and to be confident. If you are not so sure about their commitment it can be a problem that never goes away.
6. Are your lifestyles compatible? You and your partner might have very different ideas in regards to the type of lifestyle you are after. This can lead to problems down the road. The best thing is to talk about it, understand how much each of you is willing to spend on an apartment for instance or other major expenses.
7: Do Your Share Dreams, Goals? If you’re of child-bearing age, would you like to have children? What about him? Do you dream of pulling up stakes and traveling freely, while he wants to build a home and nest there? Differences don’t mean anyone is wrong. It just means you want different things.
