Energy is Essential for Success as a Wedding Planner

Let’s face it; the hardest part of the Wedding Planner business is finding brides. We all want to have a foolproof way of attracting them and even though there really isn’t one, I’d like to share a few thoughts on how I keep my business so successful.

I would like to share a little insight I’ve acquired on how we lose our energy. There are people out there I like to call energy-thieves. These people are well-meaning and can be anyone from co-workers to family. They come to you in their times of need or with a crisis that needs attention and expect you to pull them through. In the process, you invest yourself into the problem. It takes your time, your thoughts, and your energy and leaves you feeling exhausted and a little blue.

People who are well-meaning, but never have a positive thing to say are the very people to avoid. This is easier said than done, because they may be very close to you and you don’t even see it. Try this, the next time someone comes to you with a problem, evaluate how you feel once you’ve helped them. If you notice that you feel worn out, a little depressed, lacking in motivation, etc. then you’ve just let an energy stealer have some of yours.

It takes a lot of self-motivation to be in business for yourself, and you have to keep talking yourself up, you don’t have the TIME to let others bring you down. Believe me; once you’ve given your time/energy to someone, your brides will know it and they will lose their enthusiasm for utilizing your business. They are PAYING you to make their wedding the most memorable day in their lives. They won’t want to do business with someone who isn’t as enthusiastic as they are. So, take a tip from a VERY successful Wedding Planner, be positive, happy, interested, and excited to be part of every bride’s very special day. It works; you’ll attract brides like bees to honey.

Lastly, when you are feeling particularly unmotivated, take a few moments to remember why you started this business in the first place. Savor the memory of the first Wedding that you planned that went off without a hitch. Congratulate yourself on how far you’ve come and then focus your thoughts and energy into what you are doing and where you want to be. It works! After I realized that a lot of my energy was going out to the energy-thieves, I began to identify, objectify, and re-group my thoughts. After that, it was easy to remember why I loved being a Wedding Planner. I now am enjoying great success, not only in my business but with my family, too. I have even been able to open a Dcor Division.

The most important thing to remember is to remain high-spirited, energetic, happy, and positive in order to attract brides to your business. Brides want everyone around them to be as excited and thrilled as they are. So, when the energy-thieves threaten to rob you of your time and energy, simply remember to objectify the problem, breathe, and most of all remind yourself of the reason you do this kind of work. Be positive, be focused, most of all be happy! You LOVE what you do, so show it!
