Growing Lamps Are Crucial for Grow Room Cultivation
Plants that grow outside in their natural environment receive all the light they need from the sun. When growing plants or herbs indoors it is important to provide them with light similar in intensity and quality to the light emitted by the sun. Grow lights are designed for this purpose, and are engineered to produce intense light extremely efficiently.
The light spectrum is a key consideration when designing any grow room light system. The light spectrum measures the wavelength and frequency of light whether it is produced by the sun or is artificial.
Different wavelengths of light have different effects on a herbs growth and so thought should be utilized to choose what types of lamp you want to use and how.
Lamps can use a lot of energy and make a lot of heat. To counteract these problems special bulbs have been created to be very effective; able to provide plants with adequate energy to grow and bud while utilizing a fraction of the power as standard bulbs.
The main light types are fluorescent grow lamps, HID bulbs which includes high pressure sodium lights and metal halide bulbs, and LED grow lights. Growers use these kinds of lights either alone or in combination.
Normal fluorescent bulbs can be utilized to cultivate indoors however a few special lamps have been created that provide more light and are more efficient for grow room cultivation. High output fluorescent lamps emit double the light as standard lamps. Compact fluorescent lamps produce light like that of larger bulbs but take up less area and are used for confined spaces.
High intensity discharge lights create extremely powerful rays of lights. Metal halide lights and high pressure sodium lights are both considered high intensity discharge, or HID. They both provide very different wavelengths of light; metal halide produces short wavelength light used for the vegetative stage, high pressure sodium is longer wavelength and most effective during the flowering cycle.
LED lamps have experienced significant recent advancement and are now being utilized as grow lamps.
