How Do I Figure Out What To Sell On eBay?
By far the most common question I hear when someone starting out is \”what do I sell on eBay?\” What\’s the best answer to that question? I\’ll tell you in a minute. Before I can answer that, let me explain why a lot of people get stuck here. (I\’ve been there too, it\’s an easy place to get stuck.)
I believe it\’s because eBay is such a product-focused business. You buy product at a discount, you sell product at a profit. Buy low, sell high. Simple model, right? You\’re probably saying, \”yeah, I know that,\” but hear me out.
The same type of people who get stuck figuring out which product to buy are the same type of people who would get stuck figuring out which stock to buy in the stock market. It\’s basically the same model, right? Buy a stock low, sell it higher than what you bought it for. Buy inventory low, sell it higher than what you bought it for.
Think about what a successful stock trader does. They first of all know what to look for. They look at the market. They check the price. They figure out if they\’ll be able to sell it for more in the future. Then they make the call.
Successful traders will tell you it\’s not so much one particular stock that they look for, but they look for certain qualities through many stocks. They train themselves to look for these qualities, and then filter through the many options to find the winners. You need to do the same thing when looking for eBay products. Learn the criteria, train yourself to be able to recognize it.
So what\’s the number one way to find products? Without question, it\’s having the proper mindset. You need to train yourself to see the opportunities. Learn the principles of finding good products. Once you can recognize good products, you\’ll be ready for them. The fact is that there are literally products all around you that you can use, if you know how to look. You just need the \”seller\’s mindset\” to be able to recognize them.
Maybe you still don\’t know what to sell on eBay yet.
Let\’s say you have very little eBay experience right now. If you don\’t know what to sell, don\’t stress. What you can do is get up and running first. Take a look around your house and see if there is any stuff you don\’t need. Check your attic, basement, and closets. Instead of having a yard sale, see if you can sell it on eBay. As soon as you get selling, you\’ll gain experience and start to build your feedback ratings. Then, you can learn to cultivate that \”seller\’s mindset.
