Each of us knows how important our health is and in fact are doing certain things in order to keep living healthy, although most of these people may not be doing enough. The truth is that no matter how much you exercise and no matter how strict your diet plan is, these aren’t usually enough to keep your body away from certain kinds of illnesses. Most of the time, as much as some people try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, they tend to ignore the importance of regular monthly checkups.

Breast cancer is one of the greatest causes of death for women; and is fifth highest as the most common cause of deaths. Second to lung cancer, breast cancer is also one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide. Even if it seldom happens to men, they too are also prone to having breast cancer, just like women.

The good news is that with continuously growing awareness, cases of deaths continue to lessen each year. With the immense efforts made by some respected individuals and groups they help spread breast cancer awareness throughout the world. More and more people are becoming educated about how to get it diagnosed, how to prevent it and how important it is to have a regular check up.

There is no truth that wearing a bra while sleeping or wearing a brassiere with under-wire can cause breast cancer. Although certain instructions are distributed worldwide on how to self-check whether a woman has lumps on or near the breast that can cause cancer, this is normally detected at a rather advanced stage. But self-breast examination is still very much suggested, although it is much better to have an actual screening, to find it out at an early stage and have breast cancer treatments if necessary.

Breast cancer screening may include a variety of examinations such as an x ray, mammogram, breast MRI and others. These are not a cure, but are ways in which to discover if there are lumps and if you need to be alarmed or not. If ever lumps are found, additional examinations are done in order to discover if the lump is cancerous or not and take action to prevent it from getting worse.

Those who have a history of breast cancer in the family have higher chances of having it too. This is especially true for women, although men are also known to be prone to having breast cancer. The chances of survival from breast cancer are higher for those who have been detected at an early stage. Just because it’s at an advance stage, it doesn’t mean that it is not curable. What we are just trying to say is that every woman should take extra care of their health. Every pain they feel no matter whichever part of their body shouldn’t just be taken for granted. In fact, even if there is no pain, a regular check up is very much suggested even if you feel that there’s nothing wrong with your body. Just keep in mind that sometimes, certain diseases can be a traitor just like cancer, which will attack without any warnings.
