Lumix DMC-ZS3 Review: Get Success Upon Its Release

Panasonic has a long reputation for making some of the best small pocket zoom cameras. The latest model from Panasonic, the Lumix ZS3, is no different. In fact, this camera may just be one of the most impressive that Panasonic has released to date. The format for this model, dating back to the Lumix TZ1, has been quite successful. So successful, in fact, that even Canon stepped into the ring when they released the SX100 series and the follow-up SX200. Still, judging by the early reaction to this camera, it would seem as though Panasonic has hit another out of the park when it comes to the Lumix ZS3.

Consumers will be delighted with the wide range of features offered by the Panasonic DMC-ZS3, also known as the DMC-TZ7 in some markets. One of the first things you will no doubt notice about this camera is the 10.1 megapixel sensor. In addition, it features a 3″ LCD a long with a 12x zoom that can flatten down to a 1.29″ thick pocket camera. If you are looking for a camera with a lot of power that you can easily take anywhere, this could be just what you are looking for.

Although the ZS3 has plenty of powerful features, it is actually quite simple to use. Consumers will not feel as though they need to study the manual overly much in order to begin using this camera. While you will not find an optical viewfinder on the Panasonic ZS3, the 3″ LCD has 460,000 dots of resolution, more than you will find on the average camera, which produces an incredible sharp image.

The camera also includes an 11-point multi-area present on the autofocus system. This can be utilized with the default focusing system. If you like the idea of choosing different modes, there are about six different modes to select from. Face Recognition and Face Detection are available on the camera, creating the possibility of having the camera actually recognize faces in different photos. The ZS3 also features autofocus tracking that includes the face detection system.

Options that are available on the camera include Face Detection and Face Recognition, making it possible for the camera to recognize and identify different people in photographs. Furthermore, the ZS3 also includes autofocus tracking within the face detection system as well.

There is also no semi-automatic or manual mode present on the Panasonic Lumix ZS3. The camera does have Intelligent Auto and Program modes; however, with a range of 28 different scene modes to choose from.

Images are stored on the Panasonic ZS3’s SD/SDHC cards. This includes approximately 45MB of internal memory. The camera can be connected using a USB 2.0, standard-definition video output.

Power is provided through a lithium-ion battery, offering the ability to capture up to 300 photos.

A host of items are included with the Lumix ZS3, such as a battery charger, manual, wrist strap, USB cable, A/V cable and manual. Out of the box, the camera also comes with a CD-ROM that includes PhotoFunStudio. There are also numerous additional accessories that can be purchased for the Lumix ZS3. For beginners, there are ample features and equipment included with this camera to get you started.

Consumers who are looking for a camera that is high quality and can be taken anywhere without worrying about a lot of complexity will find the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 is an excellent option.
