Ratchet and Clank Are At It Again
The video game characters Ratchet and Clank have appeared together in 6 different games that have sold more then 16 million copies world wide since their debut on the Play Station 2 in 2002. In addition to an individual Ratchet game and an individual Clank game, Ratchet and Clank have stared together in games for the Play Station 2, Play Station Portable, and the Play Station 3.
Now they are back in another triple A title for the PS3, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. This game is a direct sequel to the last PS3 outing, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. The newest game will tie up all the loose ends from the series and give the fans of the franchise answers to some of the biggest questions of the franchise. The secrets will have to be found out by playing the game; I am not going to give away any spoilers. Just know that fans of the franchise will not be disappointed.
The Ratchet and Clank franchise is well known for its outstanding game play, well developed characters, boards, and especially the great weapons. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time continues this tradition. The development of the game must have been a tremendous undertaking, because it blows the previous titles in the franchise away.
Like the other titles in the Ratchet & Clank franchise, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time combines platform gaming, puzzle-solving and shooting throughout the game. In addition to all of the action packed into the game, A Crack In Time also has many humorous moments, which the franchise is well known for. The plot of the game is that Ratchet must save Clank, and players will take turn switching back and forth between the two characters as they separately work towards their common goal. The boards featuring Ratchet are more action oriented and involve a lot of exploration, the boards featuring Clank focus primarily on puzzle solving using Clank’s new abilities to manipulate time, and replicate himself.
In every aspect of the game, it surpasses anything that the fans have seen before and makes everything a little better. There are some familiar characters and weapons, but tons of new and exciting ones. It is almost as if the developers were making this game for the fans and not themselves, like they weren’t worried about making money, but were more worried about making a great game. And that’s just what they did, long time fans will love it and newcomers might finally finds out what all the fuss was about.
