One of the strategies embodied within a link building campaign is the process of submitting your websites’ URL to directories. A site directory is a website that lists down website URL’s and displays them as links, the directories posts the URL or link to a website after being reviewed by a human editor that works for the Directory site.
You can only submit your URL once for most directories if not all that is why it is highly advised that you have to make sure that you fill up the form provided by the website directory properly, any inconsistencies may be a reason for the directory editor to deny you of being listed in their directory.
In addition to filling up the form properly you also have to place your URL according to the correct category, if the desired category is not provided for in the website directory then you should determine a category title that is closest to your initial desired category, this is again for the reason that if you placed your website URL in a different category you will run the risk of not being listed in such directory. There are thousands if not millions of website directories which makes submission to all of them manually is a very tedious task, but although many SEO companies have developed an automated submission system it is still strongly advised that you maintain the manual submission to the website directory.
Remember it is not the computer and its algorithm which will review your website but instead a human person who has applied to become the website directory’s editor, such editor’s task is to check the different websites manually that are being submitted to his/her office for close scrutiny.
