The Hazards of Alcohol Abuse

Posted by Serj Wilkinson 22 November, 2009

Every year, thousands of cases of alcohol abuse are reported. People tend to think life is very long and they will never have problems getting drunk; however reality is different and abuse can have serious consequences.

One of them is alcohol poisoning and it can be a very detrimental case for your health. In many cases it leads to death, so as you can see, it is nothing to play with carelessly. Here you’ll learn a bit more about alcohol poisoning.

Many people mistake alcohol poisoning with passing out, and well, they are not the same at all. Usually someone who has passed out wakes up when you grab them or shake them, but someone poisoned will not react to any of your efforts.

This comatose state is very dangerous, and the more time you spend on it, the higher will be the dangers in your body and the chances of ending up dead.

There is a part of the population who is more prone at having an alcohol poisoning problem, and it is our duty to spread this information to avoid more cases. Teenage and college students often abuse alcohol without knowing what it can lead to, and because of peer pressure.

Other group of people prone to suffer from this terrible condition are alcoholics. These people will not be able to measure the impact of high amounts of alcohol in the blood, since they have developed a certain “lack of sensitivity”.

Sadly, this problem is very common in many parts of the World. Just in America, statistics show that every year are 50,000 cases of alcohol poisoning! And it has been estimated that at least one person dies per week because of it.

To many people this is a reflection on current law with alcohol, which is seen as legal, and a substance that can do no real harm. As a matter of fact, we see that it can be as dangerous as some “illegal drugs”.

If you want to avoid poisoning problems, you have it very easy: limit your consumption of alcohol or avoid drinking at all.
