If you are worried about a bedbug infestation, you can get rid of the insects at once. Did you know that you can do that yourself? Depending on the severity of infestation, you can definitely get rid of bedbugs on your own. There are many methods in getting rid of bedbugs.

Before you can get rid of the bedbugs, you must first establish where the infestation is. If you have done that, make sure that furniture will not be moved into or out of that area. You must not move anything to limit the spread of bedbugs.

Bedbugs die under extreme heat. Steam cleaning and sun exposure are two ways that can be used. In steam cleaning, make sure that the surface of the furniture will not be destroyed.

If the furniture cannot be treated with steam cleaning, you can simply expose it under the heat of the sun for some time. This is effective in getting rid of bedbugs. After the furniture is steam cleaned or exposed to the sun, it must be vacuumed before putting it back inside the house.

You can also use insecticides in getting rid of bedbugs. There are so many to choose from. You can even buy insecticides that are less toxic and environment-friendly. If you are using insecticides, you have to read the instructions first. The instructions should also be followed properly. Also, utmost care must be observed in handling insecticides.

Another method is by treating with diatomaceous soil. The soil contains single-celled algae and its particles have jagged edges. When bedbugs come into contact with the soil, they are killed by its jagged edges. You can simply scatter the soil around infested furniture. Leave the soil in the infested area for a couple of days. After that, you can vacuum the area to get rid of the dead bedbugs and the soil.

After vacuuming the infested furniture, you must remember the proper way of disposing the used vacuum bag. This is done by sealing the used vacuum bag in a plastic container or bag. This ensures that bedbugs are confined inside the bag and no transfer will occur.

Patience is needed in getting rid of bedbugs. Every now and then inspect the same sites in case of a re-infestation.
