What Do You Mean I Have No Warranty?
Buying online is so fun and easy. You research and decide to purchase a brand new sewing machine. You go online and find a website that sells the sewing machine you want and you click to order.
Hopefully if all goes well a few days later your sewing machine gets to you. You take it out of the box and start to sew.
This is a terrible way to learn this lesson. This would not have happened if you had purchased the machine from an authorized dealer. Authorized dealers buy their machines straight from the manufacturer so the machine you purchase has a full manufacturers warranty. Manufacturers authorize dealers so they can be assured a quality dealer to represent their product.
With a lot of people just shopping price unauthorized dealers are easily able to take advantage of this. One of the ways an unauthorized dealer might take advantage of you is take items out of the box and then sell them back to you as an add on. This way the price was lower but you did not get all that you were supposed to get and you just had to buy back the items anyway.
Unauthorized dealers do not have to answer to the manufacturers so they try to play all kind of games like getting machines underground and selling products with the serial numbers changed or taken off so the manufacturers can not track where the machines came from. Of course if a serial number is changed at all the manufacturers warranty is not valid. Some unauthorized dealers sell reconditioned machines as new and you are not told that the reconditioned machine has less of a warranty then a new machine.
Shopping online you have to be careful about more than just your credit card information. You need to be careful about the so called “to good to be true deals.” Make sure when a deal seems to good to be true that you verify that the company you are planning to purchase from is an authorized dealer. Another good thing to check is to see if the company is a member of the Better Business Bureau.
So when you are shopping online make sure you look out for these so called “deals”. If a “deal” seems to good to be true verify that the company is in fact an authorized dealer. In addition you can check if the company is a member of the Better Business Bureau.
Shopping online can be fun but make sure who you are buying from is really who they want you to believe they are; such as an authorized dealer and a great business to deal with.
