Women A Must For Economy
Women make up about 56 % of the workforce in almost all sectors. They contribute more than a third to their economies and have the potential to lead the world towards greater good. Yet they are often targets of deep rooted gender bias. Many skillful women disappeared in to oblivion when less deserving male colleagues were favored to climb up the progress ladder.
Women’s participation in business is analogous to that of the uneducated at lower rungs of an organization. Their profiles are gender segregated and they are often relegated to back end, stagnating careers that can destroy potential. Many debates are being held all over the world to bring about change based on equality. The call for change is backed at all levels including policy making and some efforts in that direction have shown fruit.
The growth of women in all businesses is phenomenal and the economy has gained handsomely from it. Women are establishing businesses faster than men. Women have always been natural multitaskers and requirement for them to manage their familial have only made them better. But women can’t take male domination and all the problems that come with it anymore. Wars of history and all the misery including the recent financial crisis that crippled the global economy are mostly male doings.
Gender gaps in access to resources and services are a major obstacle to women’s development. There have been initiatives but the ebb and flow of development priorities and choices, however, have yet to fully integrate a gender perspective that is aimed towards the achievement of women’s empowerment.
Countries which have not fared well cite the greater good of communities and hence they say a gender specific approach cannot be taken up. This has lead to women in these countries remaining backward.
Women are equals and they have proven themselves several times. They shouldn’t be tested and have to be freely admitted in to every business community.
