Wonderful Functionality Like Never Before Seen – Kyocera FS-3800D Toner

While printer technology has advanced significantly over the past 10 plus years, none have seen the innovative technology of the Kyocera FS-3800D Printer. FS-3800D was a printer of very high quality and was engineered to be \”eco-friendly.\” Despite being retired, this printer is enough of a cost effective workhorse to still be a contender in the business printing market. The Kyocera FS-3800D Cartridge produces remarkable clarity on every printed page.

This Kyocera printer is a black and white laser printer that is network friendly. It is designed to efficiently use resources while reducing operational costs and the environmental impact. The drum has a long life (300,000 prints) and the Kyocera FS-3800D toner cartridges are recyclable. The FS-3800D has 16 MB of memory and operates with a 200 MHz Power PC 740 processor. Its resolution ranges from 1,200 x 1,200 dpi to 2,400 x 600 dpi and it utilizes image enhancers that help produce blacks that are rich, edges that are crisp, and halftones that are finely detailed.

The FS-3800D printed 25 ppm (pages per minute) and was considered to be very fast. It did this by entirely storing the selected file in the memory before printing, thus lessening the need to access the file over the network again during the print. The printer has a very good Energy Star rating because of its power saving technology (it shuts itself off when not in use). Windows 2000, XP, and Vista users can use this printer, as well as those using Mac, UNIX, and Sun platforms. The FS-3800D was \”the\” printer to meet the needs of business printing (i.e., invoices, forms, reports, bar codes, and direct mail).

Kyocera, the manufacturer of this printer, is a global Japanese company offering a variety of products. It describes itself as \”the world\’s leading developer and manufacturer of advanced ceramics and associated products, including telecommunications equipment, semiconductor packages, and electronic components\”. Originally the Kyoto Ceramic Company, it grew and changed its name to Kyocera in 1982. Its subsidiary, Kyocera Mita, is the actual manufacturer of printers.

Currently, Kyocera Mita offers a line of printers that have grown from the technology used in the FS-3800D. The FS-1100 has a speed of 30 ppm and a duty cycle of 20,000 per month. The FS-1300D also prints at 30 ppm, but has a duty cycle of 25,000 per month. Thirty-two ppm can be had with the FS-1350DN (30,000 per month duty cycle).

The FS-1350 has a 32 ppm (page per minute) speed with a duty cycle of 30,000 while the FS-2020D has a speed of 37 ppm and a 150,000 per month duty cycle. The FS-9130DN steps up the page per minute speed to 40 with a duty cycle of 200,000. FS-3920DN and FS-4020DN have speeds of 42 and 47 ppm, respectively (the duty cycle ranges between 200,000 and 250,000) while the powerhouse is the FS-9530DN, which has a ppm of 51 and a 300,000 per month duty cycle.

These impressive numbers come from Kyocera Mita\’s Ecosys technology. The goal with this technology is to reduce the effect the printer has on the environment by extending the life cycle of the printer\’s heavily used components (which also keeps the \”cost per print\” down). This has been achieved by separating the drum and the toner cartridge. Most printers have combined these two components, creating a waste. The drum, which has a very long life in any printer, ends up being replaced every time the printer runs out of Kyocera FS-3800D Cartridge. Kyocera has created a solution to this waste that also lowers the owner\’s total cost.

Kyocera Mita\’s current selections of printers are all offshoots of the technology used in the FS-3800D. For speeds of 30 pages per minute, Kyocera\’s FS-1100 and FS-1300 are both available with drum duty cycles ranging from 20,000 to 25,000.

The FS-2020D offers a 37 ppm with a 150,000 per month duty cycle. The duty cycle reaches 200,000 per month on the 42 ppm FS-3920DN. The FS-4020DN has a 47 ppm with a duty cycle of 250,000 per month. The page per minute rate on the FS-9130DN is 40 with a duty cycle of 200,000. And, finally, the FS-9530DN has a page per minute rate of 51 with a duty cycle of 300,000 per month.

The printers produced by Kyocera Mita all use Ecosys technology. Ecosys aims to impact the environment minimally be creating longer life consumables and reducing the owner\’s cost-per-print. Ultimately, Ecosys technology has separated the drum from the toner cartridge. Typical printers have the two combined and when the printer runs out of ink, the perfectly fine drum gets replaced with the toner. The Kyocera printers do not needlessly replace this drum, thus lowering the cost of ownership.

Obtaining new Kyocera FS-3800D Replacement Toner continues this economy. Kyocera Laser Toner produces pages of perfect prints, with no re-do\’s required. Online vendors offer Printer Toner Cartridge at a great price, with fast shipping.
